Has kubuntu compiled in mtp support? If not, you have to compile amarok yourself.
You need libmtp to get it to work, not sure if it is already included in any distribution. |

i guess it isn't included because ubuntu 6.06 hasn't an official package for libmpt. Found a precompiled for ubuntu Gnomad and libmtp on the ubuntu forums though and also found libmtp is included in ubuntu 6.10 wich comes out his month. Just hope amarok also has mtp compilled in.

I have this problem as well ( no mtp plugin listed in amarok), and I have installed the latest libmtp, then compiled amarok with --with-libmtp, and the output semed to indicate libmtp support was being enabled... But the plugin just isn't listed with the others (ipod, even iriver ifp, which the compile process explicitly stated support was NOT being enabled for.)

If the MTP plugin is not listed then it's not been compiled. Do you have two instances of Amarok installed? |

Well, I came back to this just now, and found that the MTP plugin was now listed, and works, although scanning the collection is pretty slow. A progress meter maybe would be good for that, just to tell the user that something IS happening, and amarok isn't freezing.
I don't know what fixed it, maybe I just needed to reboot for some reason. |

There have been considerable improvements in memory usage and speed in SVN - these will be in Amarok 1.4.4. It also includes a progress bar when connecting to the device. |
