I have amarok installed and currently using the helix engine cuz none of the others work.
I have both xine and gstreamer installed and work perfectly in other applications. why won't they work in amarok?? Newbie2Linux |

If things havn't changed lately it should be still the case that the gstreamer engine is not part of the official release because not stable enough yet. I have read that gstreamer support should be in svn though, but I myself never could get it to build (no instructions about it anywhere).
As for the xine engine, it always was the most stable engine for me and I had only some distro related problems so far. Please tell us what distro you use, it is hard to guess what the problem could be without knowing that. Bye, Val. |

I use aLinux 12.8 from www.alinux.com. (it used to be called Peanut).
i've got xine-lib-1.12 and xine-devel. Right now i'm stuck using the helix engine. And i'm using amarok 1.4-svn. When I select the xine engine, it says cannot intialize audio drivers. I've done everything on the forums but none of them work.

the streaming support isn't that good, the playback jumps and isn't as good as xine's also when I press stop, it doesn't stop.
