Hi,

I have roughly 60gb of mp3/wma/ogg music (13173 files) on a ext3 partition on a SATA harddisk. I read the previous threads about network attached storage problems with building collections, but mine is direct attached.

Im using 1.4.3 (as included with mandriva2007), and i cant build (in one go) my collection any more. My previous version 1.3.x (form mandrake2006) built fine. Running amarokcollectionscanner from the cmdline i see the following,..

-- snip --

terminate called after throwing an instance of 'St9bad_alloc'
  what():  St9bad_alloc
KCrash: Application 'amarokcollectionscanner' crashing...
Error: Could not determine display.
KCrash cannot reach kdeinit, launching directly.

-- snip --

you might be interested to know that according to top, amarokcollectionscanner was using VIRT 2791mb, RES 860mb which seems slightly excessive.

Funny thing is that when invoked from the main GUI via 'rescan collection', amarok tries to blame a bad taglib install !

regards.

Got any MP4 files in your collection? There's a known bug that causes our TagLib plugin to go haywire with copy protected MP4 files. Try to remove them.

Hi,

Indeed i have, watching the output cmdline output from amarokcolectionscanner i have found the file that is causing the problem. I can upload the file if the Taglib guys need some more examples to test against.

Thanks, but I think it's already fixed in Amarok SVN.
