Can't find amarok rpm files in fc5 x86_64 extras. They still exists for i386 and for FC4. Trying to build from amarok-1.4.3-6.fc5.src.rpm but get an error: Architecture is excluded: x86_64

Appearantly there's some disagreement between the developers of AmaroK and Fedora: http://slated.org/amarok_and_prima_donna_developers. I hope they come to terms as the people who find themselves affected by this are die hard AmaroK users. Does anyone have any input on where else to get the 64-bit build of AmaroK for FC5 or FC6?

Well, appearantly one can get a 64-bit build for FC5 following the above URL. Does anyone have a build for FC6? Thanks |

Just to clarify; the disagreement was between Amarok and me ... not "Fedora", and that disagreement has been resolved. AFAICT the communications between Ian (dev) and Aurélien (FC maintainer) were quite friendly, it was just me who got annoyed with the situation, and blogged about it. Also AFAICT that situation has not been fully resolved; since the solution actually requires splitting Xine up into separate distributable components (encumbered and unencumbered) ... at least until GStreamer is complete. Which one of those two situations will happen first is anyone's guess, but I'd say we're in for a long wait either way. Until then, I will host encumbered versions of Amarok on Slated. |

THank you for clarifying that, [H]omer. Sometimes, development might not run quite as smoothly or as quickly as we might all want! It'll get there sooner or later though.
