Noob needs help with MTP

Wed Oct 18, 2006 11:55 pm
I have a MTP Media Device (a Creative Zen Vision: M), and can't get it working with Amarok 1.4.3. I'm running Ubuntu 6.06 (Dapper Drake). So what do I need to install and do to get the MTP plugin to show up in the Add New Device window? I tried tons of different stuff (and bothered everyone on IRC) with libmtp 0.0.20 but nothing I did seemed to work.

How are you installing Amarok? Are you compiling from source? If so, all you should need do is "./configure --with-libmtp". Check the output of configure to ensure it's going to build MTP support. If configure doesn't find libmtp, make sure your pkgconfig tool can find libmtp (e.g. "pkgconfig --modversion libmtp").
