hi there

i recently freshed up my box, which included a new installation of kubuntu 6.10 (which come with amarok 1.4.3).

When Irun amarok, and I want to build my collection, it only offers me /home and /media to add. My music is not in these folders, how can I get it to list the other directories on my hard disks? Last time I installed amarok it showed me the entire contents of my disks.

anybody got any advice here???

ps: i can play music just fine if I use the Files tab on the left hand side of amarok...

thanks!

OS
The hiding of system folders is a special feature of Kubuntu 6.10. The intention is apparently to make the filesystem less intimidating to new users, and to prevent them from hosing their system.

To get your folders back, simply edit the file "/.hidden". It contains a list of suppressed folders.

you, sir, are a super star!

thanks!

after i posted I noticed other programs also not showing the correct directory listing. simply renaming the hidden-root file in /etc/kubuntu-default-settings worked perfectly. reminds me of the good old windows days when to OS assumed you did not want to view the files!
