Hello all,

Having difficulty with the collection in amaroK.  The problem lies in that when I check the box to include my usual folder, it doesn't stay checked.  New items are reported as "not in my collection".... any thoughts?  If I open the properties, check the box, and close it, it will scan the entire folder (which contains the majority of my mp3s) and then it will recognize it is a part of my collections.  Each time I add an album this must be done, other wise it doesn't notice it isn't in there.

Please help.....

Thank you!

I'm having exactly the same problem (amaroK 1.4.4, SQLite DB).

All my MP3s live in '/mnt/music/$artist/$album' (on a mounted, remote NFS share; ext3 filesystem). If I add a folder into one of the $artist subdirectories it will get picked up most of the time.

If I add a new $artist folder it gets ignored and if I check which folders are in my collection there are none checked. I then have to rescan the whole /mnt/music folder to get it to recognise them.

Have you checked "scan folders recursively" (and choosing the top most directory of your music collection, e.g.  /mnt/music/)
and also "watch folders for changes"? Both can be found in the "configure collection" dialog.

I'm having quite similar problems.
I can't add anything to my collection, that is located in /mnt/... (nfs share, read/write allowed, I'm the owner..)
On the other hand, I have no problem adding anything from my home directory nor from /media/... (external usb-drive)
any ideas?

If you're using the NTFS-3g driver: This one does not yet support mtime. So you have to do a full rescan to get new tracks picked up.

Yep, I always have 'Scan folders...' checked. Typically I don't have 'Watch...' checked but even leaving this checked (following a full scan) it doesn't recognise new $artist folders.

However, this only seems to occur for the first new album for a given artist (i.e., the first time a new folder is created). Any subsequent albums created in that $artist subdirectory seem to get noticed...?
