Hello.  I've tried searching the forums extensively before posting this, and haven't found any solutions.  Any time I run amarok, everything loads fine, but almost immediately the program hangs and I have to kill it.  After enabling debugging (in both amarok and kdelibs), I've found that it always hangs a particular spot:

kdeinit: Got EXEC_NEW 'kio_file' from launcher.

Some background info:
I'm running Gentoo (with perfectly sane USE flags) on an AMD XP.
Versions:
Qt: 3.3.6
KDE: 3.5.5 (just the libs, not actually running KDE)
Amarok: 1.4.4
GCC: 4.1.1
Kernel: 2.6.17-gentoo-r8

I've recompiled all of those packages several times (also taglib, as I saw elsewhere that can cause issues).  I've also deleted everything in my .kde directory, and even tried running it as root (it's my desktop, it's okay if it explodes.)

So, any ideas?  Any help would be appreciated.  I've never even had the chance to *use* amarok--I just wanted to *try* it.  I'm sure you all know how it is when you can't get something to work.  If you need any more information, let me know.

Thanks,
Jeff

can't remember the exact command, but try searching either here, or the gentoo forums, for kbuildsycoca and amarok - this might be what you're looking for.

Thanks for the reply.  Tried using kbuildsycoca, but to no avail.  I had also, at one point, deleted all of the various KDE directories that got created.  But neither worked.
