This happened after updating from Kubuntu Dapper to Edgy. In Dapper I could play all MP3s and OGGs, but now I can't play either. They also won't play in xine or kaffeine, but they do play in mplayer.
Yes, I have read http://amarok.kde.org/wiki/MP3_on_Kubuntu and yes, I have the newest (or at least the Kubuntu Edgy) versions of libxine-extracodecs and libmad0 installed. Some version numbers: Amarok: 1.4.3 Amarok-xine: 1.4.3 libxine-extracodecs: 1.1.2 libmad0: 0.15.1b |

It will be the codecs for mp3 and also for ogg vorbis and flac..
You have to look for them in the repos.. 3th party patent issues.. |

The codecs in question are in libxine-extracodecs, which is already installed. What's gone wrong with xine and its codecs?

Allways trouble with these every once in a while, on suse102Beta1x86_64, where i am on, the same at the moment...
I am also looking to get over this absolute most annoying thing i know: Not being able to listen to my music while working! The Flac and Ogg work well with me, but that is only a small percentage in my database.. I know how you feel, because I am also realy **** off by this.. My guess is the competition with windows gets serious, so they want to annoy the linux users. Like little children: 'No! You can not play with that toy! It's MINE! I downloaded the needed real player, which is build upon helix, and has all the codecs you will ever want. But i can not find out how to point amarok to the dir these codecs are in... I will not give up, music is to important for me. My search goes on, and if I find the cure, i will tell it here.. I hope you will do the same... M9. |
