I have been a long-time member of the demoscene, and thus I have an incredibly VAST collection of module files (it, xm, s3m, mtm, mod, etc). I was very excited to discover that Amarok supported these files. So I grabbed it. I compiled xine with the modplug option, I got amarok installed. The song files play fine (sound is very accurate). I have just one problem: I can't seem to edit any of the information in my library. For that matter, I'm not even sure the files are being added to my library. They don't appear, only on the playlist.
The problem, as many may know, is that MOD files don't keep author information or anything except for the title of the song -- and I'm not even sure that is available in all formats. Mods don't have id3 tags. But I figured that if Amarok is dependant on a database, I could at least add the information in manually and it would update the database. Albeit...I don't really know how Amarok works. I realize that this information can't be automatically detected. But I would at least like to be able to add the information manually. If I try to edit the information, however, I get an error that I cannot change the information about a given song. I think one time it said I didn't have permission -- which isn't true because the file is owned by me (not root or anyone) and the database username/password is correct. I just want to update the database...I don't need to change the actual file. Is this possible with the most current release of Amarok? What could I be doing wrong? |

You can't add these filetypes to the collection, because TagLib does not support them.

Is this a possible feature request? Or is it something that's just not possible?
Sorry...I'm not a programmer...so my feasibility knowledge is just limited |

It is possible; Amarok can bundle custom TagLib plugins. But it is very unlikely that we would implement it ourselves, because there is little demand for these filetypes. So it will only happen if someone sends us a patch.
Therefore requesting the feature won't help much I'm afraid, because we won't have the time to code it.
