Global Hot Keys don't work?

Mon Nov 13, 2006 7:19 pm
Hi,

I'm running Amarok 1.4.4 with the build date of October 31st on Fedora Core 6.

I'm having an issue with global hotkeys on Amarok. Everything worked fine previously when I was on FC5 so I'm really not sure if just a change in distributions is really the problem.

Anyways, the main problem is, I can't assign "toggle playlist window" to (Windows Key + Space Bar)

In fact, I can't toggle it to be multiple period. So I can't make it SHIFT+ space, SHIFT + F or anything.

Any ideas?

I don't know what caused your problem, but I have a workaround:

Open khotkeys (kcontrol -> Regional & Accessibility -> Input Actions; "khotkeys" as a console command should also work) and bind dcop commands to a key combination.

Here is a list of dcop commands: http://amarok.kde.org/wiki/DCOP_Functions

So, create a new action in khotkeys with the combination "windows+space" and assign the command

dcop amarok playlist togglePlaylist

to it.

Good luck :)
