Hello everybody,
First, I want to apologize for my bad english. Well, let's go. I don't know why, but Amarok is unable to create a complete construction of my collection. It just always stops at 78%, tries a few seconds and... nothing. It just become as normal as if it had reached 100% At the beggining, I thought that was not disturbing, as my collection seems to be perfectly correct; but I noticed the non-processed "12%" were put in the "Various Artist" category (here, I assume I rank my collection by artist) In this category, many Mp3 are perfectly tagged and I don't understanf why they don't go in the good artist category. To be a little bit clearer, I took a screenshot : >>HERE<< ---- What could be the reason of the problem ? I use Amarok 1.4.4 with Edgy Kubuntu (KDE 3.5.5). The database is SQLite (5Mo) in /home/ryfe972/.kde/share/apps/amarok/collection.db I already had a collection problem with V1.4.3. The 1.4.4 solved it but gave me this other one. When I launch Amarok from the Terminal I don't get any message of error. Did that already happen to you? Any clues to give me ? or any suggestion or ideas? How can I fix that problem ? Thanks a lot and see you soon. ---- What I already did : Reading, this forum, I found out this thread wich look quite similar to my problem : http://amarok.kde.org/forum/index.php/t ... 223.0.html As I use Edgy-Kubuntu and as some of my MP3s are tagged with special letters, I thought that was probably my problem. (and that's probably the case) But spending hours trying to put normal english letters didn't solve the problem at all. (For example, I replaced all Ñ by N, etc) I'm really running out of ideas ---- I you need more information in orer to help me, don't hesitate to ask Thanks a lot. ----

Hi,
after looking at your screenshot, it's all clear now. These tracks are from soundtracks, so it is correct, if they are under "Various Artist". Every CD with different artists can be found here. Load a cd from let's say the Pixies in the playlist and you will find an entry "compilations with the Pixies" --> "Fight Club". This is no bug at all. By the way your tracks aren't tagged 100% correct, as you wrote. Don't think "11 - Yellow Hammer - Lazy (Album version)" is the title of that song Greetings m0nk

Hi Dieter Schroeder, Hi everybody,
Thank you for your quick answer. The problem is not solved. Many of the tracks here are tracks are from soundtracks but a lot more are not. I also have salsa, ragga, dancehall, etc. That's also true some tracks are not well tagged at all, but those which are perfectly tagged dont go in the good category as that is supposed to happen. Here is another screenshot to show you. (I just ranked the 12% by album this time) : >>HERE<< I'm sure the problem doesn't (only) come from what you underlined. Beside, I did some tests (replacing taggs by others which are working, like Madonna, Rock, etc) and that really doesn't work at all. Thank a lot for your help and ideas. If you have other ideas, questions or suggestions, please tell me. Thanks and see you soon. Bye |

Have you tried right-clicking on the albums that you don't want listed under Various Artists, and clicking the option that says not to?

Hello dangle_wtf, Hello Every body,
I hadn't try that and I admit I didn't know that was possible. That seems to be the solution. Thanks a lot. I understand now how this ranking works and even why it does what I considered as a mistake. I also understand why i thought Dieter Schroeder wasn't right, but it was. thanks. (sometimes that's the same artist but a upper case in his name makes Amarok put the entire Album in Various artists.) That's perfect! I'm now in great symbiosis with my Amarok By the way, even I had tried right clicking on the Album, perhaps I wouldn't think that was the solution as the french translation is not correct. Well, it's actually grammatically perfect but that doesn't mean what that is actually supposed to do. How can I help improving the french translation ? Thanks again and see you. Have a nice day |

Have a look at http://i18n.kde.org/ - amarok translations are handled by the kde internationalisation team.
Glad to help!
