Enable equalizer?

Thu Nov 30, 2006 7:07 pm
Hi all

I decided to reply to this post, instead of opening a new one, in order to avoid useless new threads

I have a Soundblaster Live! card, a fairly old 5.1 card. Under XP, it gives good sound, under amaroK/FreeBSD it sounds horrible (no good high, medium, low). I have installed FreeBSD 5, via DesktopBSD (great project!). I am using amaroK as it comes with DBSD and I actually appreciate it's features (thank you, amaroK-team ).

But me too, I can't enable the equalizer, and so I learn in this thread this is because of Arts. So one of the kind developers at DBSD told me:
1. Try installing emu10kx from ports, to improve sound in general. I tried, but no luck yet.
2. Install Xine from ports. I did that as well, install seemed ok, but still I can't select Xine as the engine in the options of amaroK (rebooted, but still not effect).

I can't seem to find any hints on the main Xine page, so I thought I'd ask it here.

Would anybody happen to know how I can improve my sound? I must apologize in advance for my noobiness: I'm only starting out on BSD, so my question may very well sound incredibly dumb to you

Thank you in advance for your reply,

Bye,

Mike

I've split this off into its own thread, as it's unrelated to the previous one.
