i try to explain what happen.. first of all i've gnome 2.16 on Gentoo ~x86 (unstable) when i open amarok the try icons goes random in some place... i mean.. sometimes it go in the system tray some other times it go at the top left (where's the gnome menù), some other time it append to an opened application (like firefox) this is really strange... opening it with amarok --sync from terminal produce always the same output:

guys really don't you have an hint of what's going on here?
don't like to open/close amarok 3-4 times every times i open it |

What version of Amarok are you using? Do you build it from source or is this a binary package?
May there be a relation with using unstable gentoo? |

sorry.. i thought i had said this things..
Amarok 1.4.4 compiled from source (gentoo ebuild) i cannot find a bug on it on bugs.gentoo.org did you know why this can happen? |

could be a gnome thing - if you have enough of kde installed, try seeing if it does the same thing there.
