Hello:
I've been having some weird issues with amarok whenever I use an external database. Basically, after a while amarok loses its connection or something. Unlike other posters, all of my data is there in the database (at least a select count(*) from tags returns data). This has happened with both postgres and mysql. If I connect using mysql or pgsql as the amarok user, I see all of my data. It appears however amarok itself can not connect. amarok 1.4.4 kubuntu 6.10 any help would be greatly appreciated -- chris |

I ran into the same problem, running kubuntu feisty, amarok 1.4.4 build date 06/12/2006 (ubuntu package) and mysql Ver 14.12 Distrib 5.0.30, for pc-linux-gnu (i486) using readline 5.2.
It happened only recently after an update (last weekend I think it was I updated some of my packages). I'm trying to figure out the problem, but I didn't find it yet. I hope I can help you out any time soon. As far as I can see in my mysql-logs, amarok is changing things in the mysql-database, but somehow it doesn't seem to be able to get the collection back from the mysql database. |

I think this can sometimes be a symptom of a mysql upgrade or version change. You might need to check (don't ask me how) that the version of mysql that your distro has compiled Amarok against is the same as what you currently have installed.
Since your initial database creation, has amarok or mysql been updated? Does creating a new database with the current versions work?

I haven't upgraded amarok or mysql since the database was created. Re-creating the database does work for a short period of time, then the collection disappears. I'll try to compile amarok locally and see if I get the same behaviour. This might take a little while as I am in the process of moving. thanks |

For me it worked rebuilding the database, and I haven't seen any problems since... Must be something different then...
