Got a strange problem when trying to change artist tags. First off, Ubuntu Edgy 6.10, updated whenever the updater tells me to do it. Running KDE 3.5.5. Amarok 1.4.4.
Example: I have a lot of Bob Dylan music. Most say "Bob Dylan" in the artist field. No problem. But some say 1. Bob Dylan for the artist. Some say 2. Bob Dylan, 3. Bob Dylan, etc. OK that's kinda strange, so I just do a batch change on the artist tag, and Amarok tells me "Sorry the tag for 1. Bob Dylan 'song name' could not be changed." I look at the permissions for the mp3 file, and it's wide open. I have ownership and rw access. It seems that Amarok takes the filename from the mp3 file and uses the first part (somehow) to fill the artist tag, and then you can't subsequently change the artist tag. Artist tags that say for example "Dylan, Bob," can be changed to "Bob Dylan" with no trouble. Anyone else see this? Have a workaround short of going in and renumbering all the files that start with numbers so they don't anymore? |
