Hello, I was wondering if anyone has experienced this problem before or knows of it and could help me out. I'm using Amarok on Kubuntu Edgy with alsa as my output plugin currently. The problem is that Amarok occasionally freezes during playback. Sometimes it takes about 30 minutes, other times it takes all day. I just don't understand the reason for this and have searched the internet for a solution, but could not find one. I tried switching the plugin to oss and then to arts, but the problem persists. Thanks for your help.

The implication of some of the very sketchy information you provide indicates you're using quite an old version of amarok. Try upgrading, or providing more detail.

Hi ;}

I've just noticed the same strange Amarok's behavior.
Amarok freezes for a long time when I switch tracks fast. After freezing reaction speed dramatically decreases.
I use Ubuntu Edgy with all updates, Amarok 1.4.4 (KDE libs 3.5.5), newest xine, codecs, w32codecs, etc., output = ALSA
It seems to be that longer I use Amarok, slower it works ;} After reinstalling problem disappeared but few hours later was back.
I suspect SQLite, Internet information fetching (lyrics, Wikipedia) or cover handling engine ;}

Merry Christmas,

I don't know if this affects 1.4.4, but in SVN we have a bug with the crossfading/fadeout. If you stop one track and it's fading out, and then you start another track, the new track doesn't fade in correctly, and Amarok gets unresponsive until you press Stop.

If that's your problem, I suggest disabling crossfading for the time being.

Good news: I've just fixed this bug in SVN. So it'll work OK in 1.4.5 :)
