Amarok Doesn't Know the Genre?

Tue Jan 09, 2007 10:29 pm
I've got "97" files, m4a and mp3's that Amarok can't seem to figure out the Genre for. They were all tagged with The Godfather and every other program I load them with seem to have no problems.

So the question is, how do I figure out what to do with these files? Can I send a sample somewhere or is there some debug output I can provide? I'm running 1.4.4-0.2 from Debian.

You are sure these files actually have a genre tagged? What would it be?
if you use id3v2 to output the id3 tag (id3v2 -l ), is the genre displayed there?

ok, so I rescanned the collection and it looks like all the files that have the problem are m4a. I guess the mp3's that had the issue no longer do?

of course, now its down to these 4 or 5 cd's of m4a's. they load show the genre and other info find in The Godfather and winamp. let me try "retagging" them and see if that helps.

also, I notice some of the levels under "Unknown" show no actual files?

ok, I retagged them and did a fresh scan to a new database (finally decided to use MySQL instead of sqllite since I have it running on my Myth backend anyway) and that solved the issue.
