I can open Amarok when my Iriver clix is not connected, but when it is I get the following error output:

PTP: Opening session
PTP: Opening session
ptp2/ptp_usb_getdata: read 1 bytes too much, expect problems!
ptp2/ptp_usb_getdata: read 1 bytes too much, expect problems!
ptp2/ptp_usb_getdata: read 1 bytes too much, expect problems!
ptp2/ptp_usb_getdata: read 1 bytes too much, expect problems!
Amarok: [Loader] Amarok is taking a long time to load! Perhaps something has gone wrong?

Amarok shows up in the system processes, but does not load the system tray icon or the playlist window.
Any hints?

I believe libmtp has added "proper" support for your device in the >0.1.0 versions.  Unfortunately, Amarok does not compile yet with any version of libmtp > 0.1.0 unless you download amarok svn.  If you wait a few more weeks, amarok 1.4.5 will probably come out and will compile properly againt the newer libmtp 0.1.3 and fix most of your problems.  You can take a look at the libmtp sourceforge mailing-list for problems related to your particular device.
