Cannot Read AudioCD [resolved]

Thu Jan 18, 2007 7:56 pm
Amarok works perfectly for playing all the audio files on my computer except for audio CDs. The CDs and CD player should be fine - they'll mount OK and they can even be played in other audio players (eg Rhythmbox), but Amarok always says "Could not read AudioCD" when I say Engage -> Play Audio CD. I'm not even sure where to begin debugging. Any ideas? Here's info:

-Ubuntu 6.10 (GNOME)
-Amarok 1.4.3
-xine engine
-anything else?

Running from terminal, I get:

CDROMREADTOCHDR: Input/output error

when trying to access the AudioCD.

Turns out the cd-rom path under my xine setting were pointing to /dev/cdrom. I changed to /dev/hdc and it works beautifully.
