OK, guys, here's the same ol' question yet again.  I've tried various approaches from research, but can't get this to work.

On a new install of SuSE 10.2, have got Amarok working great for flac files; downloads of track info and album art work great, etc.

However, cannot play mp3 files - saying that the medial could not be loaded (not playable).  I am using the xine back end and the ALSA engine, and other sound stuff - for the most part - is working.  I've also installed the win32codecs package.

What next?  Many thanks in advance.  Lou

Have you also read the FAQ? And searched the internet for the problem (no mp3 in SuSE 10.2)?

Hey DrLou,

Try this thread for help:
http://www.neowin.net/forum/index.php?s ... 23647&st=0

I used this repository successfully (not the ones posted on amarok.kde.org for MP3 support):
packman.iu-bremen.de

Now I've off to try VLC for kicks (http://www.videolan.org/vlc/download-suse.html).

Hope that helps,
