Hi,
This is not the same problem as many others had with errors because of strange filenames, I don't get any errors! When I try to build a collection with Amarok, it either does nothing or shows it going to 0% and then stops. I don't know what's causing this, I've tried different locations for the collection. Normally it's on my external HD, ext3-formatted 250 GB drive mounted on /media/disk. But I've also tried it on /tmp (which is on my first partition hda1) or in my home-dir (which is hda6). I've also tried different databases, I've tried the standard SQ-lite, but also I took the trouble to create a postgresql-db (that didn't go very smooth since it was my first time ). I'm using amarok 1.4.5 on Kubuntu Feisty Fawn 7.06 (which is the alpha release) herd 2 (dist-upgraded everything), I'm pretty sure the problem has nothing to do with my distro. I can however create a collection by copying files from the playlist to the collection, but then when I `rescan collection' the files just disappear again, but they stay physically on the drive. (I mean, when I rescan and it disappears, there is still a directory and file(s) /A/Air/Moon\ Safari/...... e.g.) Does anyone else have this problem and/or maybe a solution??? I couldn't find anything about this problem anywhere in this forum or elsewhere on the internet. This is about the first I seriously tried amarok, I always used to use just the command line mplayer, so maybe I've just missed some configuration..

Same problem. I just upgraded to 1.4.5 via the package for Ubuntu 7.04 Feisty and am no longer able to make a collection. I even tried deleting the collection files from my .kde directory so that I knew it wasn't a corrupted collection that amarok was choking on. I was using SQLite as my database. I'm currently downloading the official tarball (from amarok.kde.org, not the ubuntu package's source) to see if that fixes it.
I also found that this bug has been reported to the Ubuntu devs. The bug report is at https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+sour ... +bug/83454 . Followup: I just installed the 1.4.5 tarball from amarok.kde.org and it works perfectly. This must be just an Ubuntu package problem.

Ok Thank, I'll install the tarball when I get home.
This will probably be fixed before the stable kubuntu-release comes out I guess.
