Hello all,
I installed Amarok v1.4.5 by su'ing to root. When I run it as root it plays my mp3's fine and loads my directory song list on the left side alphabetically. When I run it as a regular user, the song list don't load, and MP3's won't play. I get this message: Error Loading Media No suitable input plugin. This often means that the url's protocol is not supported. Network failures are other possible causes. Any idea how I can get it to work as a regular user? Do I have to uninstall it and reinstall it as a regular user? I'm stumped. Thanks. |

What distro are you using? How did you install Amarok?

I'm running Zenwalk 4.2. I installed it by untarring it, then ./configure, then make, then make install as root.
The executable went to /usr/bin

That basically means Amark is not able to read the mp3/audio files (maybe permissions problem). Can you run it from the command line and see if you get any debug message ? Look for url of the file.

Same error message when I typed 'amarok song.mp3' from the terminal. When I su'd to root, it started playing.
