Weird behavior with MTP device

Wed Feb 07, 2007 6:22 pm
Hi guys,

My config:

SUSE 10.2
AMarok 1.4.4 KDE  3.5.5
Xine output plugin 1.4.4-107.guru.suse102

libmtp  0.1.3-2.guru.suse102

and a Creative Zen ... (MTP device)

I can put some music on the Zen, I can remove files ,  but sometimes, when I want to add files Amarok says :  "track already exists on device" while it doesn't.

I suppose I can get a log of what exactly happens somewhere.....

Anybody has a clue about that or what I could have a look at ?

Thanks !

And by the way: Amarok rocks so much, I just can't imagine using the windows dedicated Creative **** software.  Keep the good work  !!

Some additional informations:

I have problems only on some files (looks like its random) but once the transfert of a file as failed, the transfer of this specific file will not work anymore.

when I disconnect/reconnect the device, the problem stays, with same files.

when I disconnect/exit amarok/restart amarok/connect the device it works again...  and I can transfer files it previously refuses to.

OK  I found the problem

It might be worth notifying the user of this.

If two tracks have the same file name, they can't coexist on the device.

For instance :
Artist-A / LP-1/ track-1.mp3
Artist-B/ LP-2/ track-1.mp3

This is forbidden !!! (? weirdo, isn't it ?? )

fortunately the "organize your collection" feature of amarok allows to rename tracks
using the artist name and the LP name.

I think it could be worth adding a pop up message telling the user that it might be a problem when a transfer fails.

Finally, I am so happy: I discovered yet another fantastic  feature of amarok.

Amarok is definitively one of the reason  for my KDE addiction...
