Hello,

In Amarok 1.4.4, when double-clicking on a song file, Amarok started playing the song immediately. In 1.4.5, Amarok adds the file in the playlist and continue playing the current song, but I don't really like it. So, is there a way to make Amarok act as it was in 1.4.4?
I checked the configurations panel, but I didn't find anything about it.

Uh, do you mean when you double click in Konqueror?
Then you just have to change the default application under "File Associations" in the KDE Control Center.

That's not the problem, Amarok opens my audio files. But instead of playing it, Amarok adds it to the playlist since 1.4.5.

You can't change it. It's a feature.

Could the dev team add an option to change that on the next version?

amarok --queue
Then you can manually change to next track with global shortcut/system tray icon/whatever. You could even make a script if you want.
Sorry for not being helpful, but I have no other solutions.

actually, i have to agree with the reporter, this new 'feature' is more annoying than useful i think
in older version it's possible to get amarok to behave like 1.4.5 by just appending a switch when calling
but it's not possible to revert to the old behavior in the new version by using switches, it's necessary to write a script or whatever else...
that way i think of it more as an annoying bug than a shiny new feature
it'd be really great to have any way to revert the new behavior to the old one

thanks.

...or maybe an idea/hint where to revert the change in source, if possible

btw: it can almost be reproduced by a line like (but such play lines are somewhat insane):

dcop amarok playlist clearPlaylist && amarok %U && dcop amarok player play

..or to play the first item on the list first (in case of random play):

dcop amarok playlist clearPlaylist && amarok %U && dcop amarok playlist playByIndex 0

Playlist behaviour

Tue Feb 27, 2007 4:00 am
Hi!
I have just updated ti amarok 1.4.5 and now anytime when I play song by selecting it in a file manager(krusader for example) it doesn't play right away, but rather it gets appended to the playlist. Is there a way to change that behavior as I want songs to play right away
Thanks in advance

doesn't 'amarok -l -p blah.mp3' do what you want?

I've also just updated to 1.4.5, and I find this new behavior wholly unusable. It's completely unintuitive -- no other programs do this. It's a major usability change, and I can't see how it can be justified on a point release. Especially when there's no option to turn it off! I think I'll be going back to 1.4.4, or maybe to something else.

I suggest adding an option to the configuration for this, the default being the old behavior.
If people like the new  behavior better, they can change it, and if they don't, they don't have to do anything. No DCOP, scripts, or source monkeying involved. (Except implementing it, of course.)

While helping out another person, I came across something. If you go digging through all the audio types you listen to, you can do this with them. (Read the "as long as you're there" part.)

Or, if you want to dig up the config file where these are stored (and share it, of course), then you can go in with a quick regex.

in menu editor change the amarok command from amarok %U to amarok -p -l %U
is: amarok %U would be: amarok -p -l %U
