USB MP3's won't delete, interrupt each other

Hi all,

I'm nearly positive there's an easy fix for this because I remember this happening in the past, but I just can't find the solution.  I have a relatively old flash-memory USB mp3 player (Rio Forge, it serves my purposes well).  Whenever I connect it to Amarok to delete mp3's on the device and add more, it seems to work, but often when I play back certain tracks, supposedly previously-deleted tracks interrupt the newly-transfered tracks.  The tracks clearly aren't being deleted, and the newly-transfered tracks are getting mixed up with the supposedly-deleted tracks.

So -- what's the fix for this?

So -- no one has a fix for this?  No one?  Anyone?  Someone?  It's kind of silly to have to reboot into windows just to slap some mp3's on a player that otherwise works perfectly fine.
