I have a hard time using amarok mainly because it's so painfully slow. I have a huge music collection which might be a problem (12,000+ songs).

When amarok is playing and song and switches I won't get the pop-up in the corner that tells me what the new song until HALF WAY THROUGH the song. When i want to quit amarok i have to wait 20 seconds for the menu to pop up after I right click on it in the tray....

Any ideas of what's wrong?

Ok, lemme give you two tips that should help you:

1) Don't put all of your collection into one playlist. Keep your current playlist smaller.
2) Consider switching to MySQL or PSQL for the collection.


12,000 songs isn't *that* much; it should still be speedy with SQLite. But anyway, the other database backends scale better with huge collections.
