CDDB DOESN'T WORK

Sun Mar 11, 2007 3:19 pm
I'm unable to get CDDB to retrieve.
CDDB works with all other players.
My configuration:
OpenSUSE 10.2
Amarok version: 1.4.5-101.guru.suse102 (Note: have tried many other versions.)
Engine xine
Settings
Default device: /dev/cdrom (Have also tried  /dev/hdb)
CDDB Server: freedb.freedb.org
Cache directory: /home/thomas/.cddb
Port: 8880 (Have also tried 8080 and 80)

Your help would be greatly appreciated.
Would love to exploit the great features of Amarok

Thanks
  Tom

Re: CDDB DOESN'T WORK

Doesn't work for me either.  I'm using:

Amarok 1.4.3 (using KDE 3.5.5)
Xine libxine.so.1.14.0
engine configs: /dev/cdrom
                            freedb.freedb.org  port 8880
                            ~/.xine/cddbcache

I tried Xine Movie Player, and it played the cd, but failed to display the
titles.  It's log claims:

input_cdda: successfuly connected to cddb server 'freedb.freedb.org:8880'

but there's no other freedb info or errors.

Then I installed Kaffeine, which apparently uses Xine, and it DID
looked up the titles & display them.

Is there a log file for Amarok that could shed some light on what's failing here?
