Hi.

I have this problem very often :

my music is on another PC and share via samba. On the local PC, I mount the share folder with smbmount. I use a MySQL database to store the collection information.

If I try to interrupt the collection update when amarok starts it crashes and it becomes impossible to kill. See what's happend here :

Code: Select all
[ root:/ ]$ ps aux | grep amarok
vineus   11002  0.6 10.2 140932 52712 ?        D    14:32   0:09 amarokapp
vineus   11152  0.0  1.3  26440  7204 ?        D    14:33   0:00 kio_file [kdeinit] file /home/vineus/.kde3.5/socket-bloutchparadise/klauncheroFreVb.slave-socket /home/vineus/.kde3.5/socket-bloutchparadise/amarokJguocb.slave-socket

[ root:/ ]$ kill -9 11002
[ root:/ ]$ kill -9 11152
[ root:/ ]$ kill -9 14083
[ root:/ ]$ ps aux | grep amarok
vineus   11002  0.6 10.2 140932 52712 ?        D    14:32   0:09 amarokapp

[ root:/ ]$

This is very anoying since I have to reboot my box in order to relaunch amarok (and as any Linux user I really don't like to reboot). And yes, I tried to wait some time and see if it finally defunct (if you consider that 10 hours is too short for the program to defunc, then it is a problem anyway)

Does someone has any idea on this issue ?

Thank you !

probably the answer is going to be related to either samba itself, or the way you have your share mounted. check the amarok wiki for tips on samba.
