when i pick the setting to "scan folders recursively", and i pick only one folder, with couple of songs in it, it adds my whole partition into the collection. this gets really annoying, since i have to check each of my music folders manually, and everytime i add some thing new. i am running amarok 1.4.4, since 1.4.5 does not work for me (crashes whenever i try to start it). i am on 2.6.17 gentoo-r8. any help would be appreciated. thank you.

I suggest that you try to remove the config files entirely:

rm -rf ~/.kde/share/apps/amarok
rm ~/.kde/share/config/amarokrc

I also recommend to upgrade to 1.4.5, since we've fixed many collection related issues. Maybe the upgrade will work after removing the config files. If not, start amarok from the shell and let me know what kind of error you get.

heh, well deleting those files worked for the collection. i've deleted them again and tried to install 1.4.5, but it is the same thing. it crashes upon launch. here is the message i get.
