Hey
I have 2 PC's running Amarok 1.4.5. I want these 2 machines to share the same database, they are also accessing the same music which resides on a 3rd machine (both PC's have an identical path to the music ~/net/C3PO/media/Music) The problem is Amarok creates a new "device" for the same path in the device table of the database ie: idtypelabellastmountpointuuid 2uuid/home/org/freedesktop/Hal/devices/volume_uuid_f3446b57_94d9_4811_87e9_5a944f4f6a49 17uuid/home/org/freedesktop/Hal/devices/volume_uuid_c8cd66b9_7591_4f1a_902c_0ed308e97a83 The database was initially populated from PC 1, which means each entry in the directories table and uniqueid table has a deviceid value of 2. Of course when PC 2 accesses the database it thinks there is no music added to the collection. How can I get both machines to use deviceid 2? I am hoping there are different device types as indicated by the type field in the devices table and changing the type will solve the problem. When I search the wiki I cannot find any info on this. Thanks in advance |

A Google search turned up more info, on this forum ironically;
http://amarok.kde.org/forum/index.php/topic,13332.0.html Problem is turning off dynamic collections renders the current collection useless Appears that isn't gonna be fixed anytime soon according to the bug report: http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=136826 |

There is also this bug I submitted long ago, probably the same bug. I've posted a work-a-round in the bug info. I'm guessing this isn't likely to be fixed until 2.0 comes out.

Hi,
Have you tried using mysql or postgresql as the database backend? Dan |

Thanks for that. I think I am just gonna wait to see if it gets fixed in version 2. I don't really feel like rebuilding my Db.
I am using MySQL, sorry I should have mentioned that in my initial post. |
