Upgrade Guidance Requested

Sun Apr 15, 2007 1:29 pm
First post on this Forum so greetings to all.
Running Suse 10.0 (on old quad PIII server)  and Amarok as Newbie here, I noticed the Amarok splash screen gave version as 1.3 so having read some threads here thought I had better upgrade to later release.

In detail I am on version 1.3.8 using KDE rel 3.4.2 level "b".
However when I went to upgrade using Yast I found that my version was newer than what was available at  what I thought was guru mirror.

What Installation source should I be using please?
Any guidance on upgrade would be appreciated.
Regards,
Budgie.

The package version is more supported, and is known to work well, but can often be an older version than what is actually available. The source is the newest, but it's also the next-to-least supported. (Least supported is custom source.)

It really depends on what you want. If you want stability, go for the package, and if you want the newest version, use source.
