I hear people talk about last.fm, so when I saw that amarok could submit to last.fm, I signed up for an account. However, I see nothing showing up. Is it not working or am I not supposed to see a result in my account?

You put your username and password in the fields in Amarok's configuration thing, correct?

Yes, I do. I've triple checked it too. Logged out of last.fm, and back in...the username/pass work.

It seems to be working now, but most of my ripped flac files don't seem to have tag info. I must have messed up a bunch of them when I ripped them. Which sucks...I spent a LOT of time doing that. Is there any easy way to re-tag without having to re-rip?

That depends on whether the changes need to be made at the album level, or the track level. If all you need to do is change the information about the album, just right-click on the album in the Collection tab, and then correct the info. If you don't know something like the year, or exact spelling of something, click on a track, and use the MusicBrainz button to find the info for you. If MusicBrainz doesn't know, then you can often find the information you need on Amazon.com.
If you need to re-tag tracks, it's slow. However, MusicBrainz will often help, and you can use the next button, rather than saving each change. Just remember to save after the last track! I'm a freak about tagging everything correctly, so I think the time is well-spent. I've gone into my files and changed filenames to help Amarok out, too. This will give you something to do while listening to music! Have fun, Valorie |
