I've not been able to get any streams. I'm using Amarok 1.4.3 with xinelib-main 1.1.1 under Ubuntu 6.06.
Amarok is working fine otherwise. LastFM streams are failing at the "connecting to stream source" stage, while streams from the "cool streams" list are causing Amarok to lock up. |

Do you have the correct ports allowed through any firewalls?

upgrade xine-lib to at least 1.1.2 and amarok to 1.4.5 - should fix this. Make sure you also have xinelib-extracodecs installed (or similar name) as this gives you mp3 playback.

Well, I decided to do this, which involved upgrading Ubuntu from Dapper to Edgy. Luckily that went smoothly, and Amarok 1.4.5 is now running perfectly. Thanks! |

Hm. I don't think an upgrade to Edgy would be required... but whatever, it went smoothly.
By the way, Feisty is ready now. Feel free to upgrade (again). Be prepared for drive headaches if you do. (Help is available here--I'm helping out over there too at the moment.) |

Ok, scratch that. It's collapsed again.
When I run it streams throw up the "No suitable input plugin" error. Another user on this box is having no problems under their login. It also runs fine on my login from a terminal with sudo. When without sudo in a terminal it spits out the following:

I'd try and track down some of those things (e.g. Kaction) and see if they keep configuration files. If they do, delete 'em.
EDIT: I mean, of course, config files specific to you. Don't delete the system-wide config files. |

There's nothing called KAction on my system, and from a quick google it seems to be a command rather than a file.

Actually, it's part of KDE. Look at /usr/include/kde/kaction.h for what it actually is/does.
Anyway, try tracking down your album cover images, and see if any of them cause problems. (This is a shot in relative darkness.) If all else fails, you can reinstall Amarok, of course. |

I'm actually using Gnome. Should I install KDE? When I try and check KDE for installation through Synaptic it fails due to unresolved dependancies. Specifically, I won't install a package called kdemultimedia.
