Insignia MP3 Player?

Sun Apr 22, 2007 7:12 pm
Hey!

Glad to have found Amarok, its an amazing MP!

One question so far: I have an Insignia NS-DV2G, its really nice. But I am pretty tied down to windows when it comes to synching it. I either have to use the junk the company gave me (which definitely doesn't work under WINE), or use WMP, which is still pretty bad (good synching though).

Here are (sub)questions about this player: Will I be able to sync it with Amarok (It uses MTP and MSC if needed)? Its display will show album covers when playing songs, will Amarok be able to upload images to it too for this?

Just for anything else, here's the file structure in the mp3 player:
-Audible
-Music
--Artist Name
---Album
----Album music
-Video

Thanks so much for your help!

Okay. Assuming you're running a pretty recent distro, and you should be, start up Amarok then plug your mp3 player into it. If it's something amarok can use it should hopefully auto-detect it. From there, just use the media device tab. If it's in MTP mode, once you've uploaded all your tracks right click on one of them in the media device tab and click on "refresh album covers" or whatever it's called. Should work.

If not, join #amarok on irc.freenode.net and people can try and help you there. Also try the wiki.

So using Autodetect should use the right media plugin?
I'll try, thanks!

Yeah or failing that, just add it manually as an MTP device.

Actually, what distro you running? I just remembered Debian/Ubuntu/Kubuntu can screw up on MTP devices with amarok on occasion.

And have you got libmtp installed? :D

Yep, running Ubuntu.
I don't think that I have libmtp installed, I'll do that when I get home (I'm at school right now)

Thanks!

I'm having trouble connecting mine as well same system same player.  Amarok detects the player but won't connect to it.

Alright, using the generic player plugin, everything seems smooth... kinda...

Upon clicking the connect button, I get a nice little message telling me that I need to mount it, which is interesting, since it is... :/

Talked in IRC about this, hopefully somebody here will know.
