Okay thanks good to know it's a known bug and not just me.

Interestingly, uninstalling and purging and reinstalling appeared to work.  Amarok is now working for me.  I was playing songs a little bit ago and I muted output using the Gnome volume control (Ubuntu Feisty) and after I turned the sound back on and re-started output, I couldn't get any sound.  I'm currently listening to a CD in Sound Juicer with no problem, but I can't get any sound out of Amarok if I try to play a song in there (though the song is obviously playing, since the equalizer output is moving around and the time bar is proceeding normally.  Any ideas?
