Hello,

But then doing make for amarok 1.4.5 fails with error :-(  any help will be appreciated.
(I'm using SuSE9.2, KDE3.3.0)

Unfortunately this is a known issue with Amarok 1.4.5 and versions of KDE prior to 3.4.

You can either upgrade to an more recent version of KDE or wait a few days for Amarok 1.4.6 which fixes the issue.

Alternatively, since you seem to be building from source anyway, you could simply checkout the stable branch from svn and build that! It is basically the same code that will be released very soon anyway!

Hope this helps!

edit: stupid typo...

Thanks for your hint! As soon as I have upgraded my SVN to > 1.1 I will try this approach
