amaroK packages (1.4.5-4 or 1.4.5-8) are unable to recognise the option to use mySQL collection database when using VM Workstation 6 (Retail).

I am using Mandriva Free 2007.0 and Spring (Powerpack) 2007.1 but mySQL is not recognised - although the relevant database packages are installed.

When using the above Linux versions as stand-alone operating systems using WINXP and dual booting, amaroK is able to recognise mySQL.

I am very reluctant to dump amaroK as it is just the best application I have used but it takes forever to load in my collection of 4200 odd mp3 files without mySQL.

I have, by compiling amaroK (1.4.5-8), managed to have SQLlite recognised even though I have used the'-enable mySQL' command line when ./compiling. There is a statement and the end of the compile indicating that mySQL is available and has been added after 'make' but only SQLlite is available within amaroK's collection database window. Whereas the packages mentioned earlier do not provide amaroK with the option to use either mySQL or SQLlite.

I currently have a 30 day support request outstanding with VMware but I have a 'gut' feeling I will get nowhere with them, even though the support person is trying to help me out, but I feel I am battling this collection issue on my own.

If anyone has a thought, a solution or a possible work-around to this problem, please, please let me know.

I await guidance/assistance.
