problems since 1.4.5 ...

Sat Jun 09, 2007 3:46 am
hello, i've been using amarok a while now, and it is my favorite media player.
when 1.4.5-r1 came out, i installed it, but it would crash at launch
when 1.4.5-r2 came out, i hoped the problem was fixed, but apparently the same thing
i've been degrading back to 1.4.4 to be able to use it
now that the 1.4.6 is out, i've tried this one too with some hope, but no luck
and now 1.4.4 is not on portage, so i am not able to degrade back
so i am now stuck amarokless? ):

Could you provide a backtrace? Maybe we can fix the crash before 1.4.6 final is released.

http://amarok.kde.org/wiki/Debugging_(documentation) has instructions specific to Gentoo.

Bollocks. In fact some of our devs are running Gentoo themselves.

Try deleting your Amarok config (careful, deletes your collection statistics!):

rm ~/.kde/share/config/amarokrc
rm -rf ~/.kde/share/apps/amarok

And please note that Amarok does NOT support downgrading. Downgrading can corrupt your database.

a failed emerge means the new version wasn't installed at all, so it's more likely something else you've done. Did you restart your machine, or run etc-update or env-update?
