Whenever I copy songs from my Zen vision M, the collection puts in two of each song. Apparently, the only difference between the two is the file path, not in the actual file name. for example, say the song "hotel California" would appear twice, once under the path music/E/Eagles/hotel California, and the other in music/e/Eagles/hotel. the only difference is that one folder is capitalized (E,e). I've tried locating the folder, but it only appears through Amarok. When I've tried deleting the duplicates, since in reality there is only one file, both songs get deleted. Any ideas?

hey everybody,
just signed up to report the same problem (I think): my new music arrives on my ext3 internal hd, after normalising and tagging I move it to the collection via amarok context menu (including renaming). the collection is on a fat32 external hd. as expected the file moves to the corresponding folder (artist's initial - all small caps) confusingly (and annoyingly) in the collection every song added in this way appears twice, checking the file's properties reveals that one of them shows the path with a small artist's initial and one has a capital artist's initial. deleting the collection.db and then rescanning my collection folder only generates the one correct entry per song. what's up with that? thanks for answering! desh |
