Importing large music collection

Thu Aug 02, 2007 5:23 pm
Hey,

I've done some searching on the forums but haven't found much on importing large mp3 collections.
Right now I have about 40Gb(I am assuming that's large) of mp3es and I organize them as follows: ~/mp3//
So each artist has their own directory and under that is all the albums for that artist.
Now, I have been lazy and I haven't kept the ID3 tags up to date on the files.

When I import my whole collection into Amarok the final result is a chaotic looking listing. Artists mixed with songs from other artists under albums that they shouldn't be. Is there anyone that had this situation? Is there some amarok script out there that can import this for me but maintain the directory structure? Like I said I've been bad by not keeping the id3 tags up to date which would probably help in this situation. I could go through them but it will take some time and I want to do that as a last resort.

Thanks,
Nick
