For a while ago I discovered ntfs-3g and used it to mount my ntfs-formatted discs where I have the mp3:s stored.
This was great b'cause now I could use amarok to update the tags while listening. This worked great for a while but lately I moved the files to a new USB drive of 500GB so I could have all files on one disc. While copying all files I discovered that there where a lot missing. Then I found out that was files with swedish letters in the filenames that where missing. Then I used the following method to mount the disk in /etc/fstab: /dev/LACIE1 /mnt/lacie1 ntfs-3g locale=sv_SE.UTF-8,defaults /dev/LACIE2 /mnt/lacie2 ntfs-3g locale=sv_SE.UTF-8,defaults Hovever, most of the files returned visible but the letters was not correct. If I use the kernel-compiled module to mount, they will display correct. With ntfs-3g I'll get: 250 Kg Kärlek - Eva-Lena.mp3 and it should be 250 Kg Kärlek - Eva-Lena.mp3 Normally I don't care so much about it but using AMAROK has become a pain. It takes up to 4 hour's to rescan the collection and the playlists has been allmost useles. I usually use the random function and then the play list only shows .e.g. 5 played tracks and 15 unplayed tracks in a different color. Now the playlist will show as many as the screen can contain but all in same color and doesn't scroll so after a while you don't see the current track. I'm using GENTOO and MySQL. It isn't possible to use SQLlite with this large collection. I'm feeling a bit confused - so many things have gone wrong all of a sudden and don't know where to begin really.. ![]() Hope someone can give some clues even if this isn't a clean amarok-problem. |

In case you missed the FAQs on ntfs-3g: http://www.ntfs-3g.org/support.html#locale
If the upper solution isn't working, maybe changing the encoding of your filenames solves the problem. You could try convmv with care! |

Tried all that things and convmv say's it's already UTF8 which it should be.
Strange is that the pgm "EasyTAG 2.0" displays the filenames correct. One more thing..which might not be caused by this problem...but..when I rescan the collection and gets a complete collection to play from and then closes amarok and start it again - the collection has disappeared! That has always worked before ![]() I think I need more help for the moment. Thank you for your help anyway. |

Hello. I have exactly the same problem. My version of Amarok is 1.4.8 ( using KDE 3.5.8 ) on a debian lenny system.
Any solution? Thanks !
