Hi.

I am having a problem when transferring songs to a media device. I have tried this with both my iAudio x5 and a regular USB stick.

I have amarok set to transfer MP3s directly to a media device, and to convert all other formats to MP3 before transferring. My collection consists of MP3s, OGG, and FLAC. MP3s all transfer just fine, but other formats are not converted or transferred, and I get a message something along the lines of "format is not playable on media device."

Any ideas on what the problem is here?

I am running Amarok 1.4.6 on a fully updated Kubuntu Feisty. Collection is on an Ubuntu Dapper (LTS) server, mounted via NFS.

Any help is much appreciated.

Thanks,
john

Please make sure that transkode is set up correctly (is it installed?)
Make sure you have lame (the mp3 encoder) installed.
That's all I can think of for the moment to check.

OK, I now have LAME installed.

But what is transkode? It doesn't show up at all in adept, and transcode is for video streams.

It still doesn't work. Just tried with an SD card plugged into a card reader, plugged into a USB hub.

The exact error message is "1 track not playable on media device."

I also just updated my amarok to the latest kubuntu increment.

Any other ideas?

thanks,
john
