Hi,
this morning I restarted my amarok on my kubuntu feisty (with backports enabled) and now it won't play mp3s anymore. When I drag mp3s into the playlist, the "install mp3-Support"-Dialog pops up and amarok freezes. I tried executing /usr/lib/amarok/install-mp3 manually but that doesn't change anything. I don't get this since it worked before. libxine-extracodecs are installed. Can anyone please help me? Thanks! P.S.: This is the output when I start amarok from CLI Amarok: [Loader] Starting amarokapp.. Amarok: [Loader] Don't run gdb, valgrind, etc. against this binary! Use amarokapp. kbuildsycoca running... kdecore (KAction): WARNING: KAction::insertKAccel( kaccel = 0x80992b8 ): KAccel object already contains an action name "play_pause" QLayout "unnamed" added to QVBox "unnamed", which already has a layout kdecore (KAction): WARNING: KAction::insertKAccel( kaccel = 0x80992b8 ): KAccel object already contains an action name "play_pause" QLayout: Adding KToolBar/mainToolBar (child of QVBox/unnamed) to layout for PlaylistWindow/PlaylistWindow QObject::connect: Incompatible sender/receiver arguments StarManager::ratingsColorsChanged() --> ContextBrowser::ratingOrScoreOrLabelsChanged(const QString&) QImage::smoothScale: Image is a null image schwae@euler:~$ QImage::smoothScale: Image is a null image amarok: ERROR: : couldn't create slave : Aufruf des Ein-/Ausgabemoduls nicht möglich. klauncher meldet: Unbekanntes Protokoll "album". amarok: Xlib: unexpected async reply (sequence 0x7a436)!

There is probablya rebuild of the mp3 plauback support somewhere. Try uninstalling amarok and re-installing to see if any other new updates get pulled back in.

I was wondering if there was any update to this issue. I recently upgraded to Kubuntu 7.10, which brought in Amarok 1.4.7, and now it is unable to play MP3s. I got the identical output from the CLI as chandler-bing.
I've tried uninstalling, checking the repos, etc, I'm pretty much lost at the moment. |

try "sudo /usr/lib/amarok/install-mp3"
maybe that could solve your problem. |
