Hi all,
I'm reasonably new to anything Linux and AmaroK related, so hopefully there's a quick and easy solution to this issue. I have a 2nd Gen iPod Nano (4gb, blue) and have been using AmaroK to load the music onto it. When I play the music on my iPod, I can play from playlists, artists, albums, or songs without issue, but if I use "Shuffle Songs" the iPod Nano tends to crash after 5 or 6 songs. Sometimes it will get as far as 12 songs, but not farther than that. Even if I go into the "Settings" menu and turn the shuffle on there, it will crash the iPod on about the 5th song played back. Here's some details of my system setup in the event it makes a difference: OS: Ubuntu 7.04 (+ various system updates) PC: Dell Dimension p4, 768MB ram, 250 GB hd IPod Nano 2nd Gen 4GB blue formatted to Windows Music is on an NTFS partition (my machine was originally Windows XP Pro - but i've recently installed a dual boot) - OS is on a partition formatted to the file system used by Ubuntu (separate 40 gb hd) Has anyone else come across this issue? Any advice is appreciated. Thanks!

Sounds like you should call Apple support...

The only problem with calling apple support is that this doesn't happen when I use iTunes on windows to load the music. I've even tried other apps like Songbird and loaded it with success, so this issue seems to be exclusive to AmaroK.
Maybe I'll do the whole uninstall/reinstall process. Maybe some component didn't get installed properly or something. My pc was very finicky when trying to install the mp3 support (AmaroK crashed repeatedly for days when trying to get the mp3 codecs working). Perhaps if i scrap it and try from a fresh start it'll start working for me.

More news on this - seems to me that the problems are specific to two or three playlists. I created an "On the go" playlist and shuffled with no problems. Seems like some of the mp3's got corrupted or something while transferring. Maybe i'll look around at what error checking capabilities this app has. iTunes seems to be able to load the same tracks without issue, but maybe it's doing another step to validate the files before it tells me it's finished.
