Hi,
The general lack of functions in WMP was the final straw for me to completely give up on M$ products. The only regret I have is that my global file ratings in WMP are not easily and automatically transferred into the ratings of my Amarok DB. I know from looking at the metadata that rating is stored in a field called "RATING WMP" with a numerical value equal to the number of 'stars'. How can I change the Amarok rating to the contents of this field? A one-off scan of the music's directory would do the trick and then I could continue applying my ratings in Amarok. Does anyone know how I could do this? This must be a feature that people would request. Especially as the Linux bandwagon is starting to roll faster and faster. Richard |

Windows Media Player stores global file ratings in a metadata field called "RATING WMP". This has a numerical value from 1 to 5 (and doesn't exist for unrated files).
A nice feature for people crossing over to Linux from Windows would be monitoring the collection for this tag and updating Amarok database accordingly. ![]() |

Write a small script that reads the rating from each WMP file, and then call "dcop amarok player setRatingByPath(QString url,int rating)" for each file, while amarok is running.

I wrote a script to do this. I posted it in a new thread: http://amarok.kde.org/forum/index.php/t ... 630.0.html
If the download link ever goes down, you can try to reach me at lolpastalovers.net (put an @ after lol and before pastalovers.net). Make the Subject AMAROK
