I am using Amarok 1.4.7 on Ubuntu Feisty. Ever since the recent update to 1.4.7 from the repos, Amarok freezes any time I change the track. It will play one track after opening just fine, but it cannot load internet media streams (period) or files after the first one. I have tried reinstalling Amarok but it still seems to have the problem. I thought the problem might have to do with the files being on NTFS but it can't play sequentially off of ext3 either. I have also tried disabling Compiz to see if that helps, but that also was ineffective. Does anyone know what the problem might be, or is anyone experiencing something similar to my situation? I find it very frustrating and would be thankful for any help on this issue.

Have you tried as a different user? that would rule out crazy settings stuff.

No, I actually don't have any other users on the system. I'm the only person who uses this computer :S

Just create one - you can always delete it later - check your distro docs for instructions. Alternatively, does it still happen if you run amarok as root?

Amarok won't even start if I run it as root, it shows the program window then freezes before it even loads the UI. I have yet to try running it as a new user but I'm not particularly convinced it will make any difference.

Have you tried to unselect crossfading? If I select crossfading than Amarok hangs after every song. Without crossfading no problem... WELL in fact major problem, because I need crossfading, that is so nice when it works. This is on Ubuntu feisty Gnome updated standard till oct7. On Ubuntu forums I read that crossfading has stopped working after some upgrades of other packages...

As of late amarok won't even load up without freezing completely. I purged amarok and manually deleted any related configuration files then reinstalled it to see if that would fix it. However, after finishing the wizard the window opened then froze immediately (this rules out crossfading
