Yes. Found that it is in the Ubuntu backports (where there is a KDE section) and that this has nothing to do With Kubuntu backports
For other newbies like me, it was fairly simple to do the update: Open KPackageKit Settings Edit software sources (type your password) Click on the "Updates" tab Enable "Unsupported updates" Click close, confirm that you want to update the information. In the "Software updates" section of KPackageKit you will now find that there are a few "Enhancements" listed. Pick Amarok, Apply and let it do it's job. After it is done, just go in and disable the "Unsupported updates" again so you do not add anything unwanted to your system. 2.1.1.installed. But has anyone tried to recreate this problem? There is a bug registered: https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=195937
