Nonvolatile playlists???

Thu Oct 11, 2007 10:51 pm
I have all my mp3 collection on CDs, so I don't need to rescan them. I really need to have a STATIC db which tells me on what CD the stuff is.
I tried to keep entire albums as playlists or as collections, but every time I change the CD the file list loses all ID tag reference, so I cannot do any global search. Why aren't the tags kept in the DB? Is there a way to make Amarok not to look for the actual ID tag of a file that is somewhere else, outside the PC?
Is there any Mediamonkey user who understands my drama?

Thanks in advance for any answer.

Well, the problem is that you are trying to use amarok in a way that it was not designed for.  Your use case is really way out there in a corner.  Isn't it just a whole lot easier to put your collection on one hard drive?

Ok, I found Jajuk. It is a cross-platform Java applet. Now I can get rid of Banshee, Rhythmbox,  the awfully clumsy and big Songbird, MediaMonkey and Windows altogether.
It has ALL the features Amarok has, plus those I was looking for in my dark and faraway corner.
Just wanted to update.
  ---- Bye.
