Hello, I am running Ubuntu Gutsy and using my favourite Amarok 1.4.7.
I have recently had some issues with only some ogg files. Specifically, the podcast from the Linux Action show ogg feed. When downloaded (ep63 and 64), unlike all previous episodes, these last 2 episodes (63 and 64) will not play in Amarok... They will however play in Exaile! and XMMS. For clarity, previous ogg files will play in Amarok. Is this something to do with xine? A comment in this thread http://www.linuxactionshow.com/forum/comments.php?DiscussionID=1882&page=1#Item_0 suggests some issue with xine. |

Actually, if you download the files first, they play just fine in Amarok. But you're correct, streaming doesn't work with Episode 63 and 64, I've noticed that too. Must be something with their server configuration.

Actually, no, that is not my experience.
I have ep64 downloaded in a folder, I cannot get it to play in Amarok but it will play in XMMS and Exaile! The issue must be something to do with their method of ogg encoding, or some strange interaction between that encoding and Amarok. That makes it difficult to find the problem as both parties could easily point the finger of blame at the other. Rather than me be the "piggy in the middle" I think it would be best if the Amarok team made direct contact with the Linux Action Show to help fault find and fix this issue. It could conceivably be something to do with Amarok, or Xine. |

Aha, yes I downloaded from your link and it works
![]() It is still worth investigating however, see LAS http://www.linuxactionshow.com/forum/comments.php?DiscussionID=1886&page=1#Item_0 Your link must point to this new file. If you try the ogg feed link http://feeds.feedburner.com/TheLinuxActionShowOGG you get the original file which does not work in Amarok. So, Linux Action Show are aware that something they did is not compatible with Amarok and have changed their method. But, it still needs to be understood why their original ep 63 and 64 ogg files work in some players but not with Amarok. Thanks for your speedy help |
